A new era of support is here.

Adidas Techfit Control evolved from a simple concept; when you move, you want the most efficient force transmission possible.

Techfit Control utilises RHEON LABS’ proprietary strain-rate-sensitive material to control muscle movement and reduce inefficiencies in training and running. 

An early research partnership with global Universities, nicknamed ‘Project Wobble’, highlighted the loss in body efficiency through muscle shear. In high-energy movements such as HIIT training and running this shearing effect causes muscles to become misaligned from their most efficient path. If muscle shear could be controlled, how would this effect athlete performance?


// Behind the Design

 Early concept direction provided by Adidas’ design teams focused on exploring visual directions such as frequency and organic mechanics. I combined this with RHEON LABS’ signature biomimetic visual identity to explore early artwork concepts such as voronoi cell packing, organic structures and magnetic field distortion.

I used these references to support the development of a design algorithm that produced outputs with consistent visual language, maintaining engineered performance across the product range.


// Data Driven Design
The design process utilised muscle movement data extracted from hours of athelete testing, body temperature sentivity mapping and sweat secretion zones informed by Adidas’ sports science team and extensive user feedback from athletes.

Combined with biomechanics knowledge, I developed solutions that targeted support and control of key muscle groups during activity, whilst aiming to maintain breathability and comfort of the underlying garment.

Following hours of research, testing & development, a product was created that could shape a new world of performance.
